Professor and Chair of Food, Agricultural and Biological Engineering
The Ohio State University
Shearer received formal training in agricultural engineering from The Ohio State University and was awarded B.S., M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in 1981, 1983 and 1986, respectively. Prior to OSU he served as a faculty member and then Chair of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering at the University of Kentucky. During his nearly 30-year career in academia his research efforts have focused on controls and methodologies for metering and spatial distribution of inputs (seed, fertilizer and chemicals) for precision cropping systems.
